SOMETHING'S UP IN THE LIBRARY

Lelystad has a brand new library. Gone, the dusty image of old books. Drawing influence from the retail world, the library becomes a mall, subjects 'shop-in-shops'. Users are provided with a shopping basket. Shop mannequins create impulse points wearing t-shirts that inspire, tempt and provoke. The library presents itself to a wider audience…

HI-TECH COMMUNICATION

The hi-tech screen based signage uses the logos of each 'shop' to create a visually stimulating routing system for users. Screens appear above a unique moving caroussel belt where books can be returned or loaned.

LOW-TECH COMMUNICATION

Low tech but equally unique the 'snellekinderboekenroute' (fast track for kids) is a bright orange routeway painted on the floor that directs impatient kids directly to their sections.
